Our Story
BlackCurve was founded by Philip and Charles Huthwaite. After spending 5 years designing and implementing bespoke pricing systems for major global players, it became evident to this father and son team that pricing was being done badly, even by businesses which, on the surface, looked like they had their acts together.
The founders were frustrated that eCommerce companies were stressing too much about their competitors, and using simple re-pricers to blindly follow price movements to the detriment of their business.
They were determined to provide retailers with a solution that was much more robust than a spreadsheet to analyse and implement smart pricing changes across thousands of product lines. They were surprised that existing alternatives took more than a year to implement. BlackCurve had to work out of the box.
In 2016, BlackCurve Solutions Ltd (BlackCurve) was born; it started with a small seed investment, working out of a small cottage in Kingston upon Thames; now, 3 years and £2 million of external investment later, more than 10,000 days of effort, BlackCurve is making pricing decisions for more than 10 million products for eCommerce companies across the world, with an underlying mission to find hidden pockets of profit.
